Gastric Band Hypnosis Case Study

Why Did You Chose Gastric Band Hypnosis And MCR Hypnotherapy?
I picked MCR Hypnotherapy because after reading many websites on this whole subject and not knowing where to go, it was my sister who pointed me in your direction and I decided to bite the bullet as such and just email you with my request.
I thought that nothing else but gastric band hypnosis would work for me after many years of dieting and failing to control my eating habits, the only solution would be to either have surgery to limit my intake of food or try hypnosis.
How Did You Find The Whole Program and Your Hypnotherapist Mairead Russell?
I found the whole process very rewarding, and after first meeting Mairead I was put at ease and found Mairead to be non judgemental or patronising in anyway, she is very easy to talk to, supportive and professional, but also sympathetic and empathic when listening.
I found the free weekly booklets very informative and they helped me to change my understanding regarding certain food stuffs, but also doing the " homework" of what being over-weight really cost me very worthwhile. The professionally recorded CD ‘Think Yourself Thin’ is a great back up service as well and very good at re-enforcing all the positive suggestions given during sessions and relaxing yourself.
How Quick Did You Notice Changes In Your Eating Habits?
I noticed as soon as leaving after my first session with Mairead (Russell), that my attitude towards food had dramatically altered for the better, no longer did the food consumed control me, but I felt back in the driving seat, with total control and restraint, for the first time in a very long time.
What Did You Notice After Your Issues With Food Were Resolved?
I was more confidant and enthusiastic about losing weight and exercise. I thought now is my time to loose and keep it off for good and understand that diets do not work, but self control in allowing myself to have anything I like but in moderation.
How Did Your Eating Habits Change?
Despite the fact that "diets" do not work, I found that I was automatically choosing low fat options, and cutting down on what I eat,picking fruit and not snacking between meals and at night after my evening meal, no more crisps or chocolate bars! I was wondering what you had done with the old me! I actually began to enjoy crisp breads and salads, cutting back on all things fatty and refusing puddings.
Did You Feel Deprived During Your Weight Loss Program?
I was feeling good at last so I could say NO to all my comfort foods and still not feel deprived in any way. I also packed in my diet coke addiction of having 3-4 glasses a night and began drinking water throughout the day instead and enjoyed it!
Did You Feel Confident In Succeeding With This Program?
When I went shopping I could look at all the items that I would have normally made a beeline for and reject them looking at the fat content and calorie content of other alternatives, without feeling hard done to, just not fancying them any more, but also knowing I could have them if I so desired but and a big but only in moderation, but in truth I did not want them hallelujah.
Did You Notice a Dramatic Change After The Cause Of Your Overeating Was Resoloved?
I felt that after my first session with you (when we resolved the reason for my overeating) I felt I had made that breakthrough and was so very positive about how to control my eating habits that I did not even feel the need for the hypnotic gastric band! I was finally in control and if felt fabulous!
How Has Your Eating Habits Changed Long Term?
I do now have 3 meals a day and tend to leave my main meal till evening & not snack since Mairead informed me that eating more evenly spaced out meals helps the body from going into starvation mode and keeps the blood levels stable. Hence I eat more, but healthily and at regular intervals which naturally prevents the urge to binge. I can still eat a fairly large portion of food, having said that it’s made up of more vegetables than potatoes and I do stop eating the moment I feel full.
What Has Been Your Greatest Challenge And Success To Date?
My greatest challenge to me at least was the holiday and being able to control what I eat on the cruise notorious for over indulgence and me putting on nearly a stone in previous holidays!
I am pleased to say in two weeks I ate what I wanted but only put on 2 lbs, which to me was a great success
How Easy Is It To Incorporate This Weight Loss Program Into Your Life?
When I go out now I tend to pick the low fat option and enjoy salads and omit the puddings. But I still do go out instead of before saying sorry "I am on a diet" and then nip out to the chippy etc. You can still be sociable and go out but knowing you can limit your intake or choose healthy options.
And then there is the compliments when the weight comes off and folk begin to notice the difference in you, this helps you feel good about yourself and even better, when you can go into clothes shops where previously the biggest size did not fit you and off limits! You can now do so!
Any Last Comments On How Great You Feel Now?
You begin to think and see yourself as a slimmer person and that feels good. I can also walk further feel better, less short of breath and generally not have so many aches and pains as I did before. Have the confidence to go swimming and enjoy walking my young niece to school four times a week without feeling knackered after it, or looking to catch a bus instead of walking.
